I'm starting to think that 2016 is the beginning of the end of the identity politic and politically correct strain of liberalism.

The Orlando attack seems to have woken up a sort of cognitive dissonance where liberals still try to find ways to blame Trump, guns, whites, Christians, and anyone but the obvious. 50+ people were killed and the headlines seems to be concentrating on Trump more than the actual massacre.

This is only the USA; there's now an IS related hostage situation in France thats only further goingto bring up questions. In addition, there's the Brexit vote coming up.

I know I'm ranting and I don't know if Trump will even win, but I have a feeling this is the start to the end. I can already feel something off amongst the liberals I know. A sort of desperate chest-puffing to reinforce their beliefs.

Thoughts?

Yeah, there's been a huge shift towards extremism in both directions over the past few years, both in Europe and America. Everything really is changing.

this was a strange one. it's like there wasn't even any thought given to the victims before the canned reactions kicked in, I don't quite know how to explain it but it creeped me out.

It hasn't even begun. Wait until after the election, regardless of who wins.

Yes, there's no turning back. It's a race against the clock for both sides right now.

Personally I'm not even pro-Trump and never bought in to the "Its happening" calls, but this time everything feels different and liberals (those set up as being the "right" side of ideology) have been exposed with a huge hole for me. It doesn't help that a lot of them have effectively become numales looking for someone else to fight their battles.

Germany certainly has its second Weimar republic. Sweden too. America is too fucked up to compare to anything.

At least things are looking up in Norway. Even the mainstream has started to accept that muslim extremism needs to be dealth with, and criticizing immigration has become far more acceptable. Even the big center-left parties have accepted most of the new anti-immigration laws proposed by our right-wing immigration ministers.
Central politicians in left-wing parties have started to leave, because of the left's refual to address Islamic extremism, newspapers support stricter immigration laws and one political pundit who works for a major newspaper actually apologized to FrP (our anti-immigration party), and admitted they had been right all along about needing stricter immigration laws. You have no idea how big this is. It's like The Huffington Post apologizing to Trump and asking him to build the wall.

oh shut the fuck up, you're just another happeningfag with a new flavour of the month.

truth is, the right wing swing is going to come slowly and surely. it has taken about 10 years of acute lefty bullshit to polarize enough people into being able to openly mock feminism and other liberal ideals. don't forget that the left-right pendulum has operated for hundreds of years before our time, and the only reason we see liberalism as being so obnoxious these days is because we're blasted by information via the internet, where anyone and everyone can post their idiotic opinions on shit they know nothing about, and the exchange of information has allowed enclaves to form.

it will come, but the question is whether or not severe economic downturn and/or war will come before or after the political spectrum realigns itself.

Across the world, the great casualty of 2016 in politics has been the cucked right.

In the United States we have the rise of Donald Trump against the entire conservative movement, in Europe right-wing populism is on the rise against more established centre-right politicians, even in Brazil we have our own meme politician in the face of Jair Bolsonaro, who is the first politician in 50 years who openly calls himself "right-wing", our traditional right always called itself "centre-left" or "centrist".

That's good, but not enough. All these groups, though uncucked in most things, still cling to liberal democratic beliefs that only benefit the left. Trump, Le Pen and Bolsonaro are good, but what we need is MacArthur, Petain and Pinochet.

Exactly. The Bush-era conservatives have gotten a huge blow that I think marks a huge loss of support, but now it looks like the western left-wing is about to go on the chopping block soon.
