Lets face it, being gay is the easy way out of the biologically driven evolutionary chain. That's why people CHOOSE it.
They are still attracted to characteristics of the opposite sex, and could be attracted to them if they really wanted to be.
But when they find someone with the same biological brain as they have, while merely emulating the sexual characteristics of the opposite sex its enough to settle for; because its easier than trying to understand the opposite sex, while still receiving some of the perks.

I believe some people genuinely ARE not attracted to the opposite sex, but neither are they attracted to the same sex, the latter is just a coping mechanism for a society that shuns celibacy as a virtue.
The other point to make is that I think more than half of people who claim they're gay and never actually acted on it with another man aren't even gay. They're screeno-sexual and porno-sexual. They're only attracted to images and representations, not real people at all. They're literally only turned on by screens.

And what did these people do in the past?
