Where do you guys stand on the issue of abortion?
Personally, I am pro-life. The arguments in favor of allowing abortion seem weak to me.

Regardless, the act of abortion still takes away the rest of that person's life. That's why abortion is equal to murder in the eyes of a lot of people. The fetus has the rest of his or her lifespan taken away. It doesn't matter if the fetus is self-aware or able to form memories: the fetus possesses something valuable - a future like ours.

Pro Abortion, no doubt. I've had some friends consider abortion and I strongly believe in the maternity instinct, which is a force to be reckoned - if, despite everything, the woman feels that an abortion is the right choice, it probably is in that situation.
Besides, carrying a child to term and giving birth is just such a massive hassle and easily does permanent damage on the body, so obviously it must the the woman's decision on whether or not they go through with something like that. Having a kid is also a lifetime commitment and it takes insane amounts of dedication and determination and also is such a fucking burden on the life and opportunities of the parent. Women simply must have the power to opt out of that.

Banning abortion has never ever worked in the history of man kind. There will always be people having out-of-wedlock sex, and there will always be people providing abortions. If the abortions aren't provided legally and safely, it creates a shady backalley industry resulting in tragic loss of life and fertility etc.
Why? For some arbitrary morality of "don't have sex outside marriage"? It's the responsibility of a moral society to have abortions readily available, to avoid tragedy, but of course there should also be heavy sex ed and education on birth control, birth control should also be easily available, and also if preventing abortions is super important it should also be possible for a woman to keep and raise the kid as a single parent if the dad bails, meaning govt supported child care and so on.
But this idea that only women should be punished for out of wedlock sex through forcing them to ruin their bodies and lives with an unwanted child is barbaric. People should have a right to choose whether or not they'll go through something as taxing as a pregnancy

Take Chile. Abortion is illegal with no exceptions since the 80s. Lowest maternal mortality rate in Latin America, illegal abortion is close to nonexistant. Abortion isn't like drugs or guns, because it's provided as a service that also requires specialized personnel. Prohibition also worked in Spain, to the point that rich women who wanted to abort went to Britain. If the kid's parents can't raise him/her, adoption is always a better option than murdering him.
