I read that the French recruited him and he went to Indochina and set up a very efficient counter insurgency, anti partisan, anti communist team that taught the French all about interrogation techniques and the extraction of information from captured terrorist.

Not possible. Dirlewanger was beaten to death while in captivity after the war. Multiple witnesses said he was turnbed over to a Polish contingent shortly after the French realized who he was and then they permitted the Poles to beat him to death.
So he was never turned. He died unsullied, unlike many successful SS men who were captured and then later used by the enemy like Klaus Barbie.
