If you are buying any consumable product chances are the offerings at Wal Mart will be manufactured at plants with higher qualifications. I just go to Target. Better shopping experience and it keeps most of the scum out. My Walmart has elderly Cuban women cashiers who can barely speak English, and the general people that populate the store just make me feel gross in general. Target on the other hand, hires young and attractive people for cashiers and the store is very quiet and low traffic.

In the more rural parts of the country Walmart might be the only national chain store within convenient driving distance, and since it is such a major retailer it can make deals that no local small retailer could match so that's why everybody shops there. No other brick and mortar store can beat their prices. Walmart has a selection of everything: groceries, clothing, sporting goods, electronics, healthcare, beauty and hygiene, toys, lawn and garden, etc. So, even if it is the only store in town, it will likely have what most people need.
