Ben Carson will draw the Evangelicals, who are 30% of the population and still a little leery of Trump, and kneecap the Democrats usual "he's racist" strategy. Sure they'll call him an "Uncle Tom" and "House Negro" but the strategy will be significantly weakened.
Carson's only faults are the same as Trump's, no governing experience.
Bobby Jindal does have governing experience. Like Carson he's popular with Evangelicals, but also movement conservatives (this'll weaken the NeverTrump GOP crowd). He's also dark enough to hobble the Democrat's race-baiting strategies.
