Russia has no way to launch an ICBM do to the U.S. Anti-Missile aparatus so the thought of Nuclear Warfare is out question.
China wants Hillary, but they also want Japan.
The problem with China on a strategic level is that it would leave a huge defense defecit on the Indian border, and India would take any chance to invade it from the south if they had an excuse.
Russia and the Chinese government could ally, and probably would, but with Europe on the border of Moscow, South Korea taking full advantage of the situation to invade North Korea, and Japan, Australia, and the U.S. Military all fighting on the Chinese coast, they have little chance of winning.
China just cut it's military in half too, so I doubt they can recruit and train an army enough to contest the Americans.
Hillary wins, the chances China even goes to war is slim. They don't want Trump, they've made that very clear.

Even your ballistic missile defences aren't good enough to defeat a full launch. China and Russia's are significantly less advanced.
The state-of-the-art BM shield systems still struggle to intercept even a handful of missiles in simulations and only work against relatively small, sort range missiles because the larger ones can be launched from outside of the shield's interception range and ICBMs and SLBMs are only vulnerable early during their ascent.
The number of missiles that'd be flying in a MAD scenario would overwhelm any current 'missile shield' to a laughable degree.
You'd catch one MIRV's worth of submunitions and then the remaining thousands would turn your continent into a glow-in-the-dark carpark.
Total war between nuclear states is a thing of the past until someone invents a way to intercept ballistic missiles with near 100% accuracy, because if even one MIRV gets through, you're fucked because it carries enough warheads to wipe out most of your major population centers.

Take into account that no sane military officer would launch their missiles all at once. At most, they would follow orders to launch a small stream of missiles to strategic locations.
Also realize that many of our missiles are not actually usable, so we "have" more nukes than we can use and we can use more nukes than anybody is willing to use.
As for the functionality of anti-missile technology, we obviously have technology that far surpasses what is publicly available. We do have the technology currently to block a missile-only-all-out launch.
On top of all that, you are assuming that in the event of a global political breakdown, that nation-states will still function as cohesive units, which will not be the case.

The war goes nuclear fast. As soon as one party starts to lose, the nukes fly. The assumption is Russia will start to lose, but I don't know about that. Our military has been on a downward spiral since the 90s. The Russians had at least 10 years of pumping money into the military, and their spending is not nearly as inflated as ours. It wouldn't surprise me if they kick our ass in a conventional conflict.
We have a tiny army by their standards, and I think our accomplishments are largely inflated as well. Eventually we will kick their ass, but with nukes, it will go nuclear before that.
So I'm going into the mountains if the war starts. Pretty much everyone will die anyway. There is no point in picking sides.
China is an oppresive hell hole.
Russia has a bit more liberty, but the stench of corruption that comes from their politicians is far worse than American corruption.

Hell, we did fine during the war, even when the Germans took all our resources and most of our food. People just got chicken coops and started growing crops in their backyard, and while food was limited both in amount and variety, no one actually starved to death.
Our population also isn't that much bigger than it was during the war, and given the exponential increase in output from farms, I can't see us ever starving.
