Of the ones I have encountered from the unis that I have attended, that were from China, they're average at best, quiet, and will only stick to their own kind and no one else. Had to work with a younger Chinese student, as she was my research assistant that my professor assigned to me, and despite living in the USA for almost all of her life, she is super pro-China and goes full defense force if something negative is ever mentioned. If I could, I'd have every Chinese student replaced with Koreans or Vietnamese, both groups of whom tended to be a lot more bro-tier.
This runs in contrast to the Europeans who will make some attempt to interact with the larger student body, and the Africans who tended to fully integrate themselves in the larger student body and even go as far as to drop the accent.

Many are very smart and hardworking. Some families have been here for over 100 years, helped to build railroads and so on.
More recently, many rich Hong Kongers moved over to escape CCP takeover of HK. Don't know too much about them.
