It's painfully obvious to anyone with half a brain.
He doesn't actually want to be president. He never did, never will.
Despite being down millions in the popular vote, Sanders has been good at one thing this cycle: Fundraising and grassroots campaigning.
His plan is to stay in the race as long as possible, maybe even up to the Convention to keep bilking money out of his supporters (Who otherwise would NOT be donating to Clinton), and then when he finally does concede, he'll turn over all his unused funds, and more importantly, donor lists, to the DNC and Clinton campaign.
He knows that his fantasy of hundreds of superdelegates switching at the last minute to a candidate down by like... four million votes isn't going to happen, short of a Clinton indictment of course. We'll know in a few days if Obama endorses Hillary how that will go, because Obama isn't going to tarnish his legacy (Which he is VERY adamant about preserving at this point) by endorsing a possible felon to succeed him.
It's pretty genius, and no one is talking about it. He's basically a human cash machine for the Democrats, so he knows staying in the race for as long as possible is actually in the party's best interest so they can raise as much money as needed for the General, which will dwarf spending of any other election that's come before this.
