The overall register of political discourse among editors and journalists has suffered an overall decrease, because they are no longer concerned about facts and balanced reporting, they care only about presenting a preordained narrative. For the sake of quality reporting in the media, some kind of legal reform needs to take place. The press is hardly free when it is impossible for fair reporters to be heard amid the sea of emotionally charged clickbait.
