It's basically a religious holiday that culminates in the Eid festival, they fast from dawn until dusk, abstaining from both food and water. Supposedly it was the first time the Koran was reviled to Muhammad or some malarkey like that. Basically the religion of peace and no fun allowed becomes extra unfun this month.
