You're reading it wrong and don't understand the distinction (under the law) between void and voidable.
If the two people who sign a contract are drunk and both still want the contract later, their contract is fine.
However, if a party who was intoxicated at the creation of the contract wants the contract to not be enforceable, he can. That means it's /voidable/.
An example of an automatically void contract is a contract to do something illegal. That's void on its face.
In the case of intoxication/minor, the contract is voidable.
And yes, lol, being drunk is absolutely a valid reason to get out of a contract. There are plenty of cases for you to read where this has happened.
