I was wondering if you guys could recommend other themes i could explore as well along with ideas for a setting.

The dystopia should be shockingly realistic, and should not be apparent, but then hit the reader as they read. Not enough dystopian stories do this and always make the MC too knowing if the dystopia and the citizens hysterically brainwashed. Subtlety is key.

This is a fiction work that will take place in the future, so ultimately it will have sci-fi elements. Alien-human hybrids are a little over the top, but painting refugees as like an alien invasion is within the realm of what I was planning.

Try to make it applicable to reality, not directly analagous. Most readers are turned off the moment they realize theyre being preached to. Focus more on asking questions than providing answers. Good literature ought to function as a well written narrative even if the morals were taken out.
Start small, write every day, be your biggest critic.

I wouldn't be too sure about this. Miscegenation is a topic that can easily expanded in a horror setting. Look at Lovecraft's "Shadow over Innsmouth" for inspiration on that front.

Read good horror, work out what plot elements make you feel a knot in the bottom of your stomach, then use them towards the end of your book.
Good dystopian fiction is never happy and never ends well. Winston dies loving Big Brother, D-503 ends up with his free will totally removed, the Savage hangs himself while the media stand around him taking photographs, and played piano ends with the protagonists watching as society reverts to normal and the police take control again.
The only people who write dystopian fiction with a good ending are the left, e.g. The Handmaiden's Tale.
Topics such as the rejection of reality, punishments for questioning doctrine, and etc. are all things I believe you should explore, as well.

The Lord of the Rings trilogy. It is applicable to Catholic faith, ww1, ww2, people are even comparing it to the strife in the middle east.
For example, instead of making a 'hillary' character, or a 'blm' analog, look at the core elements that define and motivate these people or groups. There have been and will be many 'hillarys'. And designing a character to mimic her instead of one that bears her motivations and psychological likeness will trap you in this decade. I hope that makes sense.
So, for instance, lots of people compare the shire to pre-war england. But tolkein vehemently argued that his books were not analogies. Its more likely that whoever reads about the shire will think of whatever safe and simple countryside they have in their cultural memory, be it japan or england or norweigan or whatever.

Read the grapes of wrath. Steinbeck was a bit of a commy and you definitely pick up those vibes in the grapes of wrath, which definitely can be interpreted as anti big buisness. But what he does do right is the fucking sense of dystopia. Every thing in that book paints a brilliant picture of the misery and gloom of the dustbowl. Not only that but rights it from the perspective of refugees. Its pretty relevant now.

Maybe instead of Aliens, make them into mutants. Make them into an analogy of Muslims without them being blatantly about Muslims.

The setting I was going for was a Dystopia where everyone was one. There were no differing cultures or differing languages anymore. Due to mass globalization, there would be only one language, one culture, one race.
This may seem dull but it is a possible reality that could happen in a few centuries. Globalism's end game is for humanity "united" after all.

If you truly want to write a good novel here's a great idea.
It's the future. White people don't exist anymore, but history is repeating itself. Every country in the world is a shithole, except the Asian countries.
Make the history repeat itself. Make Asians act like whites in 2016. They want open borders, they want to help all the foreigners, they get treated like shit, they get called racist etc. Write about the downfall of Asian countries that's very similar to the downfall of the western countries.
Write it from the perspective of someone who is liberal. Like an asian dude who is pro-refugees and pro-socialism. Write it from the perspective of a guy who flat out ignores the news, all the rapes and his country dying. Just slowly put in some red pills in there before going full /pol/ when the guy gets hit hard by reality. Make this character look into history and find out how western society died.
That's a book I'd read. Not some stupid liberal fantasy where everyone's the same race and speak the same language, that's literally impossible.
Setting: Peaceful utopia where nobody is ever offended
Start: Character goes about their life. Reader become privy to their thought process- fear of repercussions affect behaviour immensely, but character thinks it is normal.
Offset: Character meets individual who disobeys the rules- shows no fear of repercussions. Shows traits of racism and nationalism. Everything "moderately" redpilled. Character doesn't know how to deal with this person. Because "thought-crime isn't real", Character doesn't contact authorities; instead becomes fascinated by individual's way of life.
Buildup: Character learns some of these traits- stops worrying so much. Readers privy to character's thoughts see much more freedom. Character begins to question how society became how it was- with this concern for every microaggression. Begins to affect the people around him. Some of his relationships go sour, others improve as they become fascinated with him in turn.
Climax: Thought police show up. Displays that the government shares these traits... the government has no care for repercussions- and freely oppresses character and those around him. Character is locked up for acting out of line- thinking freely. In a cell, Character meets individual, who explains what happened to society and how the people lost the power to be people. How ideologies became mislabelled, almost fighting themselves if not for branding and propaganda (read: fascist government telling the people fascism is bad)
Epilogue: Character has disappeared from police custody. No acquaintance knows where they have gone (read: dead), but do not question the words of their overlords.

What you just described as a setting is literally one of the steps it would take to complete this liberal fantasy that could "never happen".
Whites would go extinct.
Then Asians.
The next lightskin races would fall as well.
With each race that goes extinct, so would a certain culture, a certain language.
Do note this takes centuries later so it is well within the realm of possibility. Just because it's unlikely doesn't make it not book worthy or unwriteable.

This liberal fantasy of one race is literally impossible. You'd have to have a strong high IQ government for hundreds of years that carefully pushes immigration into every country just as the world is falling apart because of what they're doing. Even if they can pull that off, it doesn't mean people will want to mix. These aggressive immigration policies can only lead to race wars.
If you send millions of blacks to Vietnam you're not going to end up with some mulatto population. You'll end up with corpses littering the streets. Either the blacks would massacre the Vietnamese, or the Vietnamese would massacre the blacks.
