Our original reason for not allowing women to vote was that votes were to represent an entire household. The man would take into consideration the opinion of his spouse and any children old enough to grasp the politics of the vote before casting his vote--much like the electoral college system we have now but in a much more micro-scale.
I think allowing women to vote is a legitimate thing to do, as the family values and focus on the nuclear family has waned into the current system of independent women and men waiting until their thirties to get married and extended their adolescence into their 20s. I think that, if we were to remove women's right to vote, we would need to raise the age required to vote to make sure women are getting a voice through their spouse. Today's youth would never allow this, despite our brains not being fully formed until ~25.
