He makes original art, and one piece literally transports a Jap to our reality, which is incomprehensibly described through his point of view.
The crazy brinkmanship politics that constitute Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan are certainly in there, but anyone who thinks they're central elements frankly doesn't know the first thing about Dick. He certainly did not like the Nazis, he was 12 when the war started, after all, and got all his knowledge in the propaganda-heavy post-war years. Not to mention that he was a massively empathic person, and empathy is also one of the key elements in most of his work, including Man in the High Castle. But it simply never enters this hypernationalistic "all Nazis are evil" territory that people are always so ready to attach to their media.

I have only seen the first episode of the series, so I can't say anything about it. But I've heard that they massively play up the Nazis. In fact, they already did so in the first episode.
But it's a good book. Of course, all of Dick's books are good. Dick wasn't one of those writers who got political, instead spending his attention of more philosophical concepts. The one exception is The Pre-Persons, an anti-abortion story. But even that actually makes a good point in treating the limit for late term abortion as the arbitrary political decision it is, politics in the story stretching it up all the way to age 12.
I thought the first episode of The Man in the High Castle was a little lukewarm, hence I haven't followed up on it. The horrors of occupation were part of the story, but were far more rooted in identity than in the traditional anti-Nazi rethoric. For instance, a suck-up tanning to appear more Japanese.

Oh no sorry, confused you a bit, i haven't applied yet, however i have already applied for the Australian army and passed everything (pulled the pin because i wanted to be a marine instead) so i know my ears are good and no unknown diseases or anything like that.
I'm moving to the UK but i'm doing a bit of travelling before i apply, i'm staying in london with my Aussie mate then i'm heading over to Northern Ireland for the 12th of july and will probs go to france and Germany just before i join.
I probs won't apply til later this year.
Yeah i know it's one of the hardest training courses in the world that's why i want to do it, because i want to earn that green beret and have it forever.
