This seems only an assumption. You could claim it's trying to draw a distinction between biological and spiritual kin or it's trying to draw a widen a distinction of spiritual kin.
Given the culture at the time, the evidence left, and the writing of the early church fathers I'd have to say that your assumption gives little reason to be accepted.

Protestantism says that the bible is all you need and is the accurate word of god. however martin luther removed certain parts he didnt want from it. How can you claim its accurate then? I struggle with praying, both in remembering to pray and what to pray about. I know the lords prayer is a good starting point, but I don't know how to pray for specific things beyond those selfish little "please help me God" prayers, you know? I feel like I'm not being more open with my relationship with God, like on one level I want certain things to happen in my life and pray for success in those, but on the other level I believe prayer is a powerful, mountain moving force, so why am I using that for personal gain? am I not called to try and help the world at large? The apocrypha are usefull to read but not on the same level as other books. Jesus read hebrew canon during His earthly time. He quoted scripture about 50 times in the gospels but never the apocrypha.
In the hebrew canon the books are in slightly diffent order. Matthew 23:35 "As a result, you will be held accountable for all the righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood of the righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, whom you murdered between the sanctuary and the altar." Proves the usage of hebrew canon (genesis as first book and 2 chronicles as the last)
