No, they're usually based on reality. Most leftist viewpoints have a hidden assumption that we are all the same (the tabula rasa argument) and that people are moldable and environments can shape them. This idea is just plain false. No. They're based on a fundamental belief that the government should exist only to protect citizens from outside threats, from itself, and from each other. Everything else is up to the individual. It's a philosophy of personal responsibility.
Left-wing beliefs, meanwhile, are based on the fundamental belief that the government's job is to fix problems, make things fair, and keep everyone comfortable and happy. This is an easier idea to stomach, both because it proposes a theoretical solution to world hunger and poverty, and because it provides a safety net for you when you mess up. However, in practice, it requires the infringement of other's rights to achieve, and even then, it is unable to accomplish its goal because it is contingent on 100% selfless behavior from inherently selfish creatures.
In short, right-wing viewpoints seem to be based on fear to people who choose the easy way out and don't like to face issues. Right-wing viewpoints are based on fact; left-wing viewpoints are based on idealism.

That statistic refers to a projection of the number of people who enter America illegally, based on the assumption that the number of illegal residents has remained stagnant at 11 million for years (which it hasn't). The majority of people with expired Visas are forced to leave; they don't stay. The majority of illegals who stay in America don't come in with any papers at all, and they're the ones we worry about. Guess where the majority of them come from, friend.

As somebody who went back to school for a second degree and just graduated last month, I can assure you that at least half of all majors in college are somehow tainted by SJW garbage. Nearly every class I took bore with it some mention of white privilege, male privilege, systemic racism/sexism, et cetera. It's not endemic to those fields. It's fucking EVERYWHERE. That's the problem.

Nope. They are based on reality, not fantasy. We know wealth does not just magically appear. We know that the people who work for government are not more intelligent, caring, and competent than anyone else. We know that there are 2 sexes, male and female. We know that all people are not equal in any way. We know that most college subjects, outside of the sciences and business arte a complete waste, and add nothing to society. Lots of others, but the basis is that lefties are completely delusional, and their lack of ever having to do anything practical has given them a distorted view of how the world works.
