The minimum wage is a regressive law that prevents people from fulfilling economic roles that are their only option. If someone can't work for less than the minimum wage how can they improve their skills to get a job above the minimum wage?

Throughout most of US history all you had to do was turn up on a boat to NY and you were a citizen. These immigrants were a benefit to society because there were no regressive government welfare programs, and they came to improve their lives. You're confusing a statistical category (immigrants) with flesh and blood people, who are individually different. The motives by which people come are the deciding factor, not the group blanket under which they fall. If a legal immigrant comes and goes straight onto welfare are they better somehow than an illegal that comes to do shitty manual labor illegally to make a better life for themselves?

To get welfare it's adjusted by number of people in the household. If you're an illegal, you're still considered a member of the household.
So any legal citizen that resides in the house can apply for welfare and get the maximum amount, because illegals will pack 5 people into a single bedroom.
