My favorite liberal argument is the one about McDonalds automating its employees in response to the $15 minimum wage: "if they could do that they already would have done it"
No shit. If they could do it for $7.35/person they would do it. They can't. But they can do it for less than $15. So when you raise the minimum wage to $15, you have made a currently unattractive alternative into an attractive alternative.
