How much is the Aussie dole?
I think you could do this if you had a solid agriculture industry that was a large exporter and with a solid manufacturing Insustry. Let in about 25% of your population as guest workers only. If they don't work they go back. And give them minimum wage but tax the shit out of them. Have the companies and farms build cheap housing so they can get by on low wages.
They would just be there to work. Thailand gets away with paying construction workers about $10 a day and they don't even house of feed them, they just let the immigrant workers build makeshift houses on the construction site.
If it's a high rise they buss them in every morning though.

Ehm you get 530€/month for being unemployed atm and even more if you decide to be welfare case and be neet leach/ some somalies get like 2k a month for their gibs. So if anything basic income would cut spending since it would be like 30% smaller than welfare gibs and it would be on unemployment level. The idea behind the basic income is to cut welfare spending+ you get to earn it taxfree per month so there is an incentive to work since who wants to like on few hundred euros a month in one of the most expensive countries in europe.

Less unemployment, more dynamic labor market and savings on administrative costs on social security bureaucracy. Basic income would replace tons of different benefits, each with their own bureaucracy. Probably most common of those being basic unemployment benefits. Difference in with basic income is that unemployed doesn't get his benefits terminated on moment he or she takes a temporary or part time job, in addition all income earned from said job will be fully reduced from benefits. That creates situation where there is pretty much no point for unemployed to take any jobs other than full time employment, since pretty only thing you get from temporary jobs are things like travel and additional food expenses if you have to eat out. Also once temporary job is over, it takes time process your next application, while theory application should be processed in two weeks, reality might be bit different. Taking temporary job for a week, can end up eating very little next month and fuckload of paper being sent to bureaucrats.
