It's rather simple: most people can't cope with the writing on the wall, that we never recovered from 2008, and it has been an everlasting slide of downsizing your standard of living, and will continue to be.

The absolute narcissism, insecurity and pretentious one-uping that goes into facebook is so horrible. I remember being addicted to that shit in college and being miserable the whole fucking time without knowing why. I used to keep track of my number of friends, check girls' relationship statuses and browse pictures for hours feeling like shit. Half my 'friends' travel and take stupid pictures to show off and Ive come to realize Im happier reading at home than they are in Asia or wherever. Crazy.

Yea I grew up in my formative 17-22 years on that shit after having no male role model in life and no male teacher until grade 5 (literally no male present in life until I was 10). I think this really fucked me up but Im not totally sure how. Did drugs etc. Depression, all that. Found /pol/ and woke up.

Yeah, you've got to learn to recognize that just because someone is on your friends list, it doesn't actually mean they are your friend nor that you have more social value. Growing up, people need confirmation that they have value and when people don't get a solid basis for that from their family they get it from society. They need those numbers on their friends list or likes on their posts to confirm their value to themselves.
Everyone needs to learn the french concept of copains and amis, then realize that only a very few of the people on that list are actually amis. I get overly political for the shit of it on fb now and use far too much for getting my shits n giggles. Stupid feminist crap? Gonna get wreckt. Edgy racial crap? Yep goin down. Liberal idiocy? Wooh some fun.
Your real friends won't give a fuck that you're an outlandish asshole from time to time and mine actually look forward to it. We have a text group and there are a few who always bring it up and tell everyone to get on facebook because I'm at it again. It's pretty fun haha. I lose on average a friend every week or two on there and the field of fucks is completely barren.
