bitcoin is a decentralized "issuer" with a true fixed supply. every holder/user has an interest in preserving the value, in provably valid transactions, and even has the capability to audit the whole blockchain if that's what they want to do (try auditing the fed). the trust is derived from the cryptographic proof-of-work which 100% of the users can check.
but e.g. gold may yet be farmable from space -- while it is the perfect money because the supply is difficult to disrupt rapidly in large quantities (and i allow that this may never change), which in turn allows entrepreneurs a stable platform on which to make economic calculations, it is still not a true fixed supply. we could find it anywhere. but bitcoin is. because math.

Depends what you want to use it for, if you are just using it to quickly buy shit in relative anonymity sure, but it will never be a stable currency with the ability to store value in the long term.
Your best bet is probably online exchanges and then scramble your bitcoins and use vpns (don't remember exactly how it works anymore but there are sites that launder bitcoins) if you want to do something illegal.
