Also, don't forget that plumbers are actually quite essential for our society to function properly, unless you want to end up like India. People like us are the grease that keeps the gears turning. I was working at the Scotiabank Plaza in downtown Toronto last year, whenever I chatted with the people who worked there they all seemed respectful and interested in what I was doing. Ranger for a very popular park in a major city. Pay isn't great but I enjoy it. Generally easy, get to drive a truck around all day, bosses are cool and give me a lot of autonomy, co-workers are great, and it's rarely boring cause I never know what the fuck I'm going to see when I drive around a corner or what I'm going to deal with that day. People are fucking weird with some of the shit they do, especially hispanics.

Despite the meme, there are actually very few Jews in the banking industry. The ones that are involved are of course the wealthiest, but it's not
like they perform any work or involve themselves in any meaningful decision-making process. They seem to only exist to earn profit.
Regardless, the bottom line is that the circulation of money is actively being choked and throttled by regulations, for no other purpose than to give the false sense of security to the people, and give the impression that the people who write these regulations are "doing something". Very few people actually read or pay attention to these bills. Most of them read like Mad Libs.
PACs are pretty bullshit also. Nobody sees investing $860,623 into a presidential campaign like they actually support the canditate. It's more like gambling. You pay the candidate X sum of money, in leu of them winning; or if they lose, they reimburse you in some intangible way when they return to Senate, or throw a cocktail party, or whatever.

I've heard thanks to offshoring and the flood of H1B's, engineering has become pretty shit. They employ people out of college and once you get into your mid-thirties, you join all the old timers in contract work hell because companies don't want to pay the wages they deserve, but still want their skills and know they're desperate for work at that point. It's always been a feast and famine field, but I've heard it's worse now.

I think programming is one of those things you actually have to have an interest in.
There is a typical nerdy hacker lifestyle and all that.
If you're not into it in the first place, and don't have a passion for the thing overall then yeah it's going to be frustrating and daunting to learn.
Anything can seem no big deal to learn if you have the passion for it. Because it's that enthusiasm that keeps you doing it and it doesn't feel like its a lot of effort then.
