The fall of the soviet union was the worst event to take place in recent history. Explain why.

Let's see just how enlightened /pol/ can be.

Because the West lost their best enemy and became complacent.

I would debate thos topic but Im on my phone and cant be bothered posting my essays

Because America got cocky and didn't have to make capitilasm appealing anymore
>>
>>75926323

Because it caused the left to collapse into being cringy, weepy, embarassing, liberal shitstains instead of being misguided and deeply dangerous but at least respectable reds.

It made the Former Warsaw pact member cocky Thinking we will bail them out If Russia ever decide to conquer them again to reform the Pact. Don't even get me Started on the Former Soviet States.

The leaders never actually fell, but instead were allowed to spread their influence further and stronger.

The world got sold.
>>
>>75926323
it made communist ilk seem less threatening allowing further infiltration.

That fucking cold war really instilled some American Pride didn't it
>>

It suffered from too many internal contradictions. Like a few years before the collapse, the government announced it was rewriting the history books, and this caused an outrage since the Russians always knew their government was corrupt and dishonest (more than Europeans vs. the EU nowadays) but to see it so openly do shifty things was too much

Western commies became """democratic""" socialists

No more "competition" from communism. Capitalists no longer have to fear an uprising (which would have been supported by the USSR). They don't have to make any concessions to their workers anymore (and people cannot stop globalization from happening). Corruption keeps growing.

The US' hegemony is still extremely costly, even in an unipolar world. Even though they cannot be defeated militarily, threats come from everywhere and maintaining order keeps getting more difficult as the US rots from within.

>this right here. America is, however, developing competition from China due to our failing status. However our diplomats and politicians continue to bleed the country dry through many multinational deals

I am proud /pol/ it only took 2 answers.

The scariest thing about the Soviet Union is that its ghost lives on in radical leftists, social justice movements. They helped to foster those demoralizing viewpoints in academia, and now it survived into the newest generation. Now we're having serious discussions whether or not we have to redistribute wealth.

The Soviet Union may be gone, but the damage is done.

The wealth disparity keeps growing and globalization keeps disempowering workers. The poorer and richer segments of society are not prospering together. All the gains of increased productivity has went to the rich. And that's probably not even the worse thing. People hate their jobs and are terrified of losing them. People are demoralized because capitalism is treating as mere commodities.

They are barely even breading anymore, and it doesn't matter. They are interchangeable economic units of which there is a near infinite supply in the third world. Culture doesn't matter to them.

And /pol is still triggered by the idea of regulated capitalism, which is what all western nations are (and what made them great), but it has become more corrupt than ever.

The USSR subversion wouldn't be so effective if there wasn't more and more truth to it.

what? soviet union in practice was nothing like sjws and 'liberalism'.

>Now we're having serious discussions whether or not we have to redistribute wealth.
yes, because the wealth is soo much more evenly distributed since the cold war (hint, its the opposite)
