Marx was born to an incredibly wealthy family and the only times he wasn’t cloistered with academics, he was philandering with the wealthy elite. The first half of his career he was funded almost entirely by a wealthy businessman, and then the second half of his career was at various academic institutions when that fell through. And this is the problem with Libertarianism at large. It puts ideological consistency and first principles above practical pragmatic results.
There comes a point at which you say "I am violating your rights by coercing you to feed that child, but you're a bastard and I don't care."
"Slippery slope!" you cry, but all libertarianism does is slip you down the other side of the slope whereby you start starving babies and (to some degree arbitrarily) decides that allowing nature herself to coerce you [Starve them into work!] is completely ethical while using your nature-given fists is not.
To be truly consistent, Libertarianism often necessitates open borders. While in fairness privatized patrols could always exist to protect arbitrarily defined regions, to have true nations you need a state. The dreaded big government.
When matched with pragmatism Libertarianism is a great force against genuine authoritarians [SJW types and those who use fear in the population to grab power], when matched with piousness they are worse than useless.
That most libertarians put liberty in areas like taxation above liberty in areas like state surveillance tells you everything you need to know.
