Both the EUSSR and social media giants decided to try and one-up eachother
trying to get the 2016 reward for the most obnoxious group of people there are.

Facebook, twitter, microsoft, google - have decided to censor their platforms in
an attempt to polarize their (mostly anti-patriot) userbase. Shutting down on free
speech and deciding for people what they should and should not see.

EU decided to hop the dimwit bandwagon and actually try to outlaw words, the
madmen. Some say it's to censor Brexit, others, to be able to prosecute their
citizens that have committed the crime of thinking differently. I wouldn't be sur
prised if Apple came out of this a winner openly stating that morally and crimi
nally wrong things aside - they will not censor their users.

Any which way, I think we have a great opportunity here; I've tried to make an
anti-social platform two years ago, getting the idea from /pol/ in the midst of a
similar situation (something about free speech I can't remember). I am still int
erested to spearhead such a project, if /pol/ would be interested in it. I already

>have experience doing almost exactly the same thing
>can write the system
>have the VPS and domains
>have an interest in doing so

To be straight forward, my profit from doing this is so I can tunnel traffic, lead
parts of the audience towards my other projects.

pic semi-related, my first attempt at this two years ago
>>
inb4s:
>you can't kill facebook, even google tried but failed

Not trying to kill it, just take a shot at it, and I have nothing to lose, no matter
how much traffic the site naturally generates.

>they'll hijack it the moment it starts becoming successful

Not if it's not profitable. The concept and mechanism itself is going to be built
in such a way that you can't make loads of money on it.

>this isn't /pol/, what is it even?

Basically what I want to do is build a platform where free speech, albeit mode
rated, is protected. Where two sides of the same coin - a patriot and an anti-
patriot for example - can passionately debate something then come to a mid
dle ground, without the platform automatically censoring one or the other.

No echo chambers, no censorship tools. Open discussion, free content. Want
to repost cat videos? Ok. Porn? Ok. Worship people on the "wrong side of his
tory"? Ok.

These are the values we're interested in.

And no "Please upload a govt. issued photo ID so we can verify your account"
type of shit either. We're going to use IP for bans, and past that anything you
want to put on your account is purely your choice. The UX flow will be somet
hing like:

>visit site
>get a temp ID
>use site anonymously with that ID
>or register it with two passwords instead of an e-mail address
>want your real name and info on there? Sure, put in whatever you want
>still you can just use the ID as your identity

Pretty straightforward isn't it?

Now, what I need from you is discussion. The name, the agenda, the plans, a
decision of a visual identity, or anything else a politically conscious community
can criticize in such a thing.

For names we have

>outc
>lean
>chemo
>converj (converge)
>>
Reminder: this doesn't need to stay on the front page, even though it's grassroots, it's not exactly /pol/.

So unless the thread is on page 7 or 8 you should sage when posting here.

- 30 Jun 16: ETA of user content management.

- 15 Jun 16: ETA of account handling. The basic idea is that you get an ID in the form of CURRENT timestamp which you can
use as a temporary(single use) identity, register as a continous identity, or even put a pseudonim or a real name on top of.

- 10 Jun 16: ETA of a user interface and database connectivity.

- 02 Jun 16: Started the server.
>>
Someone asked if this is to make an alternative /pol/. Not exactly,
no. The goal here is to make an alternative social platform that can
not be manipulated or used as a tool for censorship.

/pol/ is /pol/. This is supposed to be a place where you can go and
argue with commies without getting banned, or where commies can
come and post their opinions without being saged to hell and back
and called master baiters.

The ultimate goal is to cancel out the echo chambers in an attempt
to reverse the radicalization and polarization of political discourse
on social media.
>>
Thoughts?
>>
I like the idea a lot. I think non cucked pro freedom of speech social media and platforms have a broad demand. godspeed

What do you think of the potential names? Got any ideas for a name yourself?

Setting up a database.
>>
Successfully connected to the database. Sheesh I thought this doesn't work.
>>
For the interface I'm thinking of putting a slim toolbar on the left hand side, a "stream" right next to it, and use the right half of the display as an activity section - for desktop.

For mobile the same except the activity and stream parts are interchangeable. I'll make a mockup give me a sec.

Toolbar is the orange, stream white, and activity pink.

Imagine if the orange is the 4chan board list, the white is threads on a specific board, and pink is an opened thread.
>>
Holy shit anon, this might just be a good idea.

If you need a PHP dev I can help if you want to set up a SVN
>>
>>75848333

It was a good idea two years ago as well, there were plenty of interested people.

>>75848419

I have exactly 0 experience with SVN, but I'm willing to try it out.
>>
Keep it up bro, I want another platform to cyber stalk cuties
>>
>>75844267
I think you should apply a diferent ID for each thread (like here), there should be the option to be completly anonimous. Also, i really like the idea of both getting a whole site ID and to be able to use the site with your real info.

Also, i say no profile o whatever it is called on facebook. You should be able to participate in discussions and make threads, but no one should be able to follow your steps nor should you be able to make yourself vulnerable if it isnt your decire.
>>
Lunch, I have the basic mechanism down, connectivity is on, I'll write and design the template in the next few hours or so, then switch to account handling.

I think I can churn all of this out in a couple of days or so.
>>
>>75849280
Where can we expect to get updates on the project, anon?
>>
>>75849769

http://placeholder-looca.rhcloud.com/?log

Or in these threads. It'll probably be up and running in a few days or so.
>>
Thoughts?
It's bigger than the screen because of the red wireframe border.

>>75851399
That's kind of neat so far.

May i inquire as to how your project is going to set itself apart from the competition? And I'm not just talking about your plan to make it censorship free where users can post whatever they like.

Assuming you intend to commit, what is the gimmick that you have that the companies it aims to compete with (facebook, twitter, etc) do not have? To say "free speech" is a start, but it's not enough to make something successful out of. All of those platforms probably all started out with intensions for true free speech, but have all sold out for various motives. To me, it sounds like you plan to make just another generic platform for free speech, something which has been done many times over. For this idea to go viral, you need something which is unique to it

Eg:

twitter is designed for short and concise statements that can viral very quickly through retweeting

Snapchat is loved for how you can share pictures that are only temporary

Even 4chan, the selling point is the anonymity and the ability to converse with complete strangers with no repercussion

I'd suggest anons that want to see this happen, and have ideas for what can bring to the table to start sharing them

>EUSSR

I like this.

Especially since Merkel, a literal Cultural Marxist (-Leninist kek) is at the head.

Fucking Soviets and the long game. They really played it well.
>>
>>75844148
How can a fellow web dev/ designer get involved? I'm all front end.
>>
>>75851399

Maybe put the toolbar on the top or the right so it's laid out like M$ outlook.
>>
>>75851446
Toolbar was a bit too large. I'll fill it with lorem ipsums and make the basic design, I'll deal with the rest when there's data flowing through there.

>>75851600
It's buttons only. I'm going really minimal.

>>75851532

It's all backend to avoid bloat. I'll make JS-optional functionality later on. E-mail [email protected].
>>
>>75851723
Be sure to plan ahead for media queries and such.
>>
>>75851488
>competition

I'm investing exactly 0 money into this. The code will be open sores and I won't monetize it unless there's a need to (the VPS wants money for resources).

I'm doing something similar to this only with a slim buttons-bar on the left. It'll work flawlessly on mobile.

This thing'll be so open that not only am I going to share the source on git repo hosts, but due to not having critical data in it, I'm going to let you see the running version of the code.

You now have the latest posts in the stream pane and you can open one of them in the action pane.

Next: sessions, account control.
>>
>>75856956
>>
>>75857186
Will posts appear in the pane by default, or will there have to be some kind of subscribe system?
>>
>>75857674
Subscribe system, search for categories.
Autogenerating latest posts for every single visitor uses up too many resources.

hmm, this was simpler than I thought it'd be.

Quick fix then I'll make the toolbar buttons, one will lead to a "make a post" page.

Textboard shitposting incoming.
