Well, I think that is based upon the essence that freedom is being allowed to do what you want but freedom is not being allowed (be free to) restrict others freedom (as in, banning gay-marriage.
You can call it degeneracy if you want, you won't go to jail for that. You might get public opinion against you, but that's part of a free society (in a free society, the masses tend to support freedom, and thus support degeneracy.)

Ideally though people shouldn't even have the ability to talk to this many strangers or read this much information at once without having to contemplate and take your time, it's completely demoralizing and bad for the brain.

that's precisely the problem though. I'm not an idiot who thinks the internet makes people violent, nor do I care about racism. The problems are things like porn and endless amounts of entertainment, and the simple ability for people to get everything they want sitting in their room. At least for children and teens it's a problem. And then there's also women on social media. But again what I say doesn't matter because I'm not the government, and the only thing one can do is raise kids right.
