I deleted my facebook in 2006 when I graduated college. They warned us that companies would scour your social network sites to evaluate you. I deleted it so they wouldn't see the stoners and shit I used to hang out with. Then I got a job at a defense company whose security department begs us not to use those sites so I made that an excuse to stay off.
It has actually caused some problems for me over the years. People always complain to me "I can't find you on facebook". One time back in 2012 I was dating a woman who was so into facebook and the like that she got pissed at me for not being on. She acted like I was doing her some disservice to her social life by not using those sites. Needless to say the relationship didn't last long.

a mixture of IRC and imageboard format is the way of the future, where groups are segregated from one another by a series of channels. youll meet a chick and she'll be like "yo, you should totally join my channel" and her channel will include all of her friends and associates, some of those will have a channel etc and each will intersect with others in a more natural way, a framework of real world associates. companies can do the same things to form a more organic social network, much like a normal "in group" in real life. this is how society works. facebook will fail because theyre putting everyone on the same platform, this is actually a weakness because people are forced together not by common interests but by hate and offense a lot of the time. what offends one group wont offend another, and if fags have access to the speech of others theyre inadvertantly triggered because theyre cunts. the best way is containment like we do here, it should be up to the community itself to control the dialog not fucking cuckerburg. thats why people are tired of facebook.
