You'd have to be literally retarded to think vaccines cause autism. There is absolutely no connection between autism and vaccinations, and any chemical that might have had some sort of vague, 1 in a million chance has been removed.
The only "evidence" I've ever seen (aside from useless anecdotal evidence) is "WELL, THE AMOUNT OF VACCINES HAS GONE UP AND THE AMOUNT OF AUTISM HAS GONE UP! CHECK MATE", and my response is "WELL, THE AMOUNT OF IPHONES HAS GONE UP TOO"
Now, I should say: There is totally an argument against giving very, very young children too many vaccines at once. Sometimes before the immune system is developed enough to actually make use of them. Spreading out vaccinations is a fine practice, if you'd like to do it, as long as your kid actually gets vaccines. Kids do feel pretty shitty when they get multiple vaccinations done in a short period of time.

Autism isn't any more common than its ever been, it's just being diagnosed more. That's not necessarily bad either. I work with adults with disabilities. I've worked with people who could be the posterboy for autism who, up until they were 40, had no autism diagnosis. Just a diagnosis of "generalized mental retardation" (note that this is a lazy diagnosis. There's always an underlying reason for substantial mental retardation).
So we're getting better at recognizing autism and correctly diagnosing those who have it.
Also a lot of people who would go through life with no diagnosis at all, and just be considered weird, are now getting an autism diagnosis. That's increasing the number of autism diagnoses a lot. And then there's the revamp of the DSM which got rid of things like aspergers and pervasive developmental disorder- NOS. Those are now just considered autism too.
