Liberals used to have the moral and intellectual high ground in America because the Liberal demographic was made up of highly educated East Coast college-educated whites
After the 1965 Immigration Act America went from 90% white to 62% white (and even this is a questionable % because often Hispanics with Hispanic names like Sanchez or Gomez get counted as white.
As a result the line in the sand shifted and East Coast left-wing ideology was replaced with brown-skin Socialist ideology.
