The fact is, within a few generations of agriculture being adopted by a population, the society has adapted to a point where it cannot simply jettison the farming way of life. Everything quickly comes to revolve around tilling the land, feeding animals, etc. The concept of land ownership and possession arises. A man who might have died at the age of twenty due to physical weakness might own the most fertile soil or strongest herd, and thus survive to a greater age and father more offspring.
It's not untrue to say that physical defects are more likely to persist in an agriculture society, but nor is it reasonably to say that that makes said society less worthwhile/respectable/advanced/etc than a hunter-gatherer one.
