Maybe but in the US mostly not. Why pay to purchase an irishman and then pay for its upkeep when you could instead pay it a meager wage for work with its upkeep its own responsibility. Then when it inevitably becomes grievously injured or perishes you are out no great investment and may simply hire another.. They do spawn like rats after all.

Generally in pre-Norman Ireland it was forbidden for an Irish person to take another Irish, Scottish or Manx person as a slave, but sometimes it happened if the person was living in a Viking settlement. Vikings were enslaved by the boatload and it didn't really matter if an Irish person got caught up in the crossfire.
After that Irish people were never really slaves. People sometimes bring up the Barbary raid on Baltimore but those guys were all English colonists so the pirates were doing the Irish a favor.
The Irish did undergo forced indentured servitude in the Carribean and America but that isn't the same as chattel slavery.
