What do you think would be the argument against school uniforms?

>Promote school pride and identity
>Reduces bullying
>Reduces misbehavior
>Helps students improve academic performance
>Uniforms can easily be made in America
>Kids save time on getting ready for school
>Parents save money on clothes
>When a kid grows out of them, they can simply donate back to the school to be resold later for a discounted price for parents that may have trouble affording them

So yeah, what's stopping them?
>>

Is the school going to pay for the uniforms?
>>

Kids also hate:

-Eating vegetables
-Doing homework
-Having a bedtime
>>
>>75598257
No one gives a fuck what you hate even if you're 96.

Not really. Even ALDI here are offering them for cheap for all those working class scum who can't afford to spend more then 20 pounds on a school uniform.
>>
>>75598081
>>Promote school pride and identity

Not in this day and age. What sort of kid thinks it would be cool to be proud of whatever shitty elementary/middle school they're going to? They'd rather be proud of whatever MLG clan they're in or nigger gang they're part of.
>>
I went to school with a uniform, you kind of hate it in primary school, but in high school it was really good.
The rivalry with other schools, especially at inter-school events was amazing.
>>
>Some people will never know the joy that puberty and school uniforms provide.
>>

>The rivalry with other schools, especially at inter-school events was amazing.

I mean, kids love Harry Potter and THEY had uniforms! And the rivalry between the houses is now within our pop cultural lexicon.

Letting an institution tell you and your child how they should dress for school

>they can simply donate back to the school to be resold later for a discounted price for parents that may have trouble affording them

Socialism

OP confirmed Berniebot
>>
>>75600503

>Letting an institution tell you and your child how they should dress for school

Parents do the same thing. This just makes things easier on them because they don't have to worry about their kid wearing things that they oughtn't be wearing.

>Socialism

Weeelllll...

But seriously, id's be different than Salvation Army/Goodwill, eBay, or college bookstores. You could even have people opt into renting uniforms.
>>
>>75598081
School uniforms should look like military uniforms and students disciplined accordingly for deviations

Unless you're japan or thailand with more attractive schoolgirl uniforms
>>
>Promote school pride and identity
As if that even matters in modern times
>Reduces bullying
Look at Japan's suicide rates as due to bullying.
>Reduces misbehavior
How.

wat
>Kids save time on getting ready for school
Lie.
>Parents save money on clothes
Is your kid going to wear the uniform outside of school? What about the money parents must pay for casual/work clothing? I personally remember going out on Saturday nights when I was younger and thinking, "I know I have this nice Under Armour shirt, but I sure do with I could be dressed like a faggot."
>When a kid grows out of them, they can simply donate back to the school to be resold later for a discounted price for parents that may have trouble affording them
Nothing says "Please don't bully me" more than when little Jimmy has a blazer from 2010.
>>
They're for inner city schools with problems, and private schools.
>>
>>75598081
Would the teachers and staff be required to wear the same uniforms? If not, why not?

It seems fair and in keeping with the conformity arguement OP posited. One less thing to set the teachers and students apart from one another.
>>
>prevents bullying

Tell that to my son who went to a private school (with uniforms) and attempted to kill himself due to bullying.

Why you feel the need to subject other people to your personal and aesthetic whims is pretty revealing of your character though.

I wish I went to a school with a uniform.
I wish I had gone to school and had friends, went on dates and enjoyed life.

I just want a family now and to give my future son a better life. If for some reason I don't keep this new job I'm in training for right now I'll probably just off myself since I'll have no career and no social status/income to attract a mate.
>>
>>75602189
They obviously didn't bully him due to his choice of clothing. Without uniforms, the extra little bit of clothing related bullying might actually have got him to succeed in taking his own life.
>>
>No one has pride in their school
>Bullying is an important part of growing up
>It only reduces dress code misbehavior which is rare anyway.
>Its very unlikely that it improves performance, do you have proof of a direct correlation?

Uniforms are a good thing cause they teach kids to dress respectfully
>>
believe it or not, kids have a desire and need to express themselves and clothing is a major part of that
removing that mode of expression shouldn't be done lightly

It's not really the case at all. We felt no unity or togetherness around others in the same uniform, weak or troubled kids were bullied regardless, kids still pissed around in class delaying lessons pretty much daily, and there was no collective increase in grades. Dumb kids remain dumb kids.

Uniforms don't need to be like OP's pic. Some schools only require uniformed tops, and it can be as simple as a polo.

Never had to wear them but my little sister did. She enjoyed it. No more cliquish styles. Since then I understand why Steve Jobs always wore his fucking turtle-neck, jeans and sneakers. Less time wasted on trivial things, more time promoting the exact same phone with a higher digit to idiots.
>>
>>75598081
no argument against it unless its mandated by the state. i dont think public education institutions should mandate conformity in a society that prides itself on individualism.

if a private education institution seeks to impose uniforms and parents sign on to it, i see no problem. it promotes order and conformity. it also supports a sense of community and team work.

there are pros and cons to either that really dont matter in the grand scheme of things seeing as those pros can be learned in just existing and participating in society.

ill send my kids to a private school if i can afford it. just to keep them away from a majority of the shit tier kids.

It doesn't fix bullying like it claims to and just attempts to strip you of your individuality. Shit's expensive, unpractical and looks retarded too so there's that.
>>
>>75611691
Putting on clothes doesn't "strip you of your individuality". It has nothing to do with individuality.
>>
>>75609954
you only need a couple of uniformes that you wash often if you have them, if not you would need many pairs of regular cloths for school. you cant ware the same cloths 4 days in a row even if you wash it because you will look like a fag. you can wear the same uniform every day.
>>
>>75601659
spotted the angsty fag who dose not like to wear uniforms, your points are useless
>>
>>75598257
Good. That's the point.
>>
>>75606034
That's what our uniform was like. All you needed after that was just plain grey pants or a plain grey skirt.
>>
>>75612435
Coupled with the implication of putting people on an imaginary leveled playing field in order to counter bullying it tries to. Not that hard to see where the logic stems from:

"Hey kids, you'll all be wearing these clothes exclusively from now on when you're in school so that none of you stand out. That way you can't bully each other because you're totally the same."

It's really just a pathetic attempt to fix something that isn't an issue stemming from clothes to begin with.
>>
>>75613406
I don't deny other people might reason that way. My only point is that it's not valid reasoning, since a person's individuality is essential to them, and has nothing whatsoever to do with whatever clothes they happen to wear.
>>
>>75613598

One could argue that the lack of cliquish attire, as was mentioned, would inspire people to be more unique in ways that matter more.
>>
>>75613598
That's the point I was making the entire time, it's flawed logic and that's why forcing people to wear silly uniforms won't solve anything.

They think that by forcing you to wear the same clothes you can make differing personalities suddenly disappear and therefore solve bullying or whatever socioeconomic excuse they can come up with. It's a failure and benefits nobody except the companies making the clothes.
>>
>>75613919
I don't like talking about "inspiration" or other qualities having to do with what might motivate someone, since anyone can be motivated by anything to do or not do anything else.

>>75613931
Yeah, I agree. Though if everyone likes the aesthetic image of a bunch of people in the same style of clothes, that's not a non-benefit.
>>
>>75598081
Our public school in Louisiana makes it mandatory for students to wear white, red, or blue polo with khaki or black pants. No jeans.

They did this because of the niggers. I shit you not. Also,it eliminated "status".

It didn't really work. Everyone came up with their own individual style of wearing the uniform and wore hoodies since the school couldn't ban them. The rich kids, losers, jocks, junkies, and niggers still separated into their groups.

We also have to wear an ID around our neck at all times. Like a tag on a lanyard.
>>
>>75614232
that is in fact a non-benefit
on the same order of getting your kid organized so their dick looks the same as yours
>>
>>75614989
>hoodies in Louisiana
Way too warm for that.

>>75615432
So music you like would simultaneously give no benefit. Or art. Or food. Or anything else that has to do with aesthetic sense.
If you actually believe that, enjoy.

School uniforms are hot as fuck.
I went to a British-style Bilingual School.
Most schools here are like that.

This was my High School's uniform.

They are also anti-degeneracy and promote discipline and social equality since everyone is dressed the same.

What's not to like?
>>
Jeans and a T-shirt are all I've worn my entire life, so no thanks

>>75602189

>>
When I went to school, half of my classmate wore adidas sweatpants, huge sneakers, hoodies and baseball caps. Looks ridiculous, and it constantly reminds them that they are "thug" or "2cool4school".

A school uniform would put pressure on them to behave and do well. They would feel stupid if they were to yell and throw chewing gum on the wall if they were dressed neatly.

>>
>>75598081

I like the concept of school uniforms, but why do they always look so shitty?

First off, they should never be like your OP pic. Having to wear a dress shirt and a tie everyday is uncomfortable as fuck, much less having to wear a fucking jacket.
>>
>>75618884

Then don't have shitty uniforms. You could literally make a uniform at Walmart that's in the 20-30 dollar range that almost anyone could afford and that is also comfy. Anything to keep niggers from showing their underwear to the world, or girls from exposing their ass cheeks or wearing yoga pants.
