Are sugary foods addictive? My mom got back from the market one day, and when I was carrying some stuff back to my room my mom started laughing at me. It was in that moment that I realized that I was a grown man going to his room with a box of Pop Tarts in one hand and a box of Apple Jacks in the other, and that something might be wrong. I also get pretty anxious whenever I don't have sweets. Should sugary foods be demonized like tobacco? I think it would help society a lot.

It isn't chemically addictive, but too much of it disrupts the body's blood sugar regulatory processes and regular hormone and neurotransmitter functions creating a dependence on it.
Intermittant fasting is probably the best solution because it prevents these dependence mechanisms escalating.

One thing I have found more addictive than anything else I have come across is soft drinks. I used to be a 2 pack a day smoker and quit that with fairly little hassle even after smoking for 10+ years. But I can not give up soft drink. I am so addicted to the shit I get shakes and headaches far worse than anything I experienced after smoking
