actually, i read a really great article talking about hoe some polling method that got used only mailing address and sent out like, a voter questionnaire for 1 in 3 Americans, just a massive sample size.
it failed due to low return and a poor overal sample of possible voters. at that time in America it missed a lot of voters by a large enough margin that the results of the presidential election was a surprise.
fuck. i cant remember what the name of the poll was or find the article. I'll keep looking. it was super interesting. I would imagine this is the same situation, good polling techniques simple cannot make up for a bad sample.
