Just started the process of converting to Orthodox. I'm going to liturgy every Sunday and reading all the literature the parish priest has recommended to me. I'm really enjoying it and have found a new sense of belonging, community, and theological interest/enthusiasm I never felt in the Protestant churches I grew up in.
Do any of you that are Orthodox have any general advice?

If you're white, I simply cannot think of a more viable alternative to Orthodoxy as the foundation for social becoming in the modern west. I looked at it myself, going to a dozen or so liturgies, having some great conversations with people, but ultimately I do not believe in the moral vision of Christianity, to say nothing of the truth or falsity of the stories themselves. If I was only white, it might have seemed worth it to overlook the problems of Abrahamism for lack of an alternative for western civilization, but I have the (Far) Eastern cultural tradition that I can raise a family in, COMPLETELY free of Abrahamisms and slave morality.
I will not discourage any white person from Orthodoxy though. I will read the Bible to my children, as I will read the Illiad, the Odyssey, and Metamorphoses, and Tolkien, as well. When taken in the context of the internal realities of each story, there ARE moral lessons worth passing down, but I would rather my children literally believed in Zeus than literally believe in the Hebrew god. It took me a long time to come to that conclusion, but I can't square the circle otherwise.

This is a pretty low-brow approach to pointing out that Christianity is essentially universalist Judaism. Jews hate Christianity because it universalized their tribal god, and strips them of their special status as a chosen people, and it historically called them out on their uses and abuses of the universal god for these tribal purposes. It's actually the opposite of cuckishness to steal another people's god, and tell them it doesn't belong to them anymore. Christianity cucked Judaism, not the other way around.
It doesn't matter that Yahweh came out of the original pagan Canaanite pantheon, or that it's a "Jewish desert god". That's irrelevant, and has nothing to do with why Christianity can be a liability (as well as a strength) for cultures that adopt it. It is a liability because it valorizes weakness and meekness. It's a liability because it is at its core suspicious of strength and the heroic. It is the opposite of pre-Christian European morality in this regard, and it can cause people to lose their ability to learn affirming morality by imitating the heroic.

I did find that Orthodoxy seems to be the only surviving cultural force in the west, that exists at national scales, that still preserves and continues to teach pre-modern philosophies. There are of course plenty of non-Orthodox theorists and academics who write seriously about traditionalism, or perennialism, or whatever--those sort of things--but so far I have found no other large scale force besides Orthodoxy that actively fights modernism anymore. Perhaps if you added up ALL of the traditionalist Catholics in the west, but they are so brow beaten and scattered, and without the support of ANY national government on earth, that it's hard to include them.
