I am Roman Catholic (traditionalist) and practicing. The pro-life phenomenon was a JPII project to sort of sentimentalize female friendly aspect of natural law.
Abortion is a terrible crime, qua abortion. But the pro-life thing has morphed well beyond this and ignores clear Catholic teaching that normal means, not extraordinary means, are what we are required to do.
I feel very sorry for people whose children have these terrible birth defects. I don't know where the line is, but clearly in various cases the humane thing to do is to administer morphine and allow nature to take its course.
The professional pro-life groups don't get this for whatever reason. It's the same way they fail to see the futility (and self-defeating committment of resources) is obsessing on black and Hispanic abortion addiction. Yeah, these young women are pretty horrible for chopping up their children, but it is part of an overall degenerate lifestyle. Suppose Mama X does not go through with the abortion- but then stays addicted to drugs/wanton sex and pops out a litter who cost the public mega bucks. Have we really solved anything? And in the meanwhile, our own people are being systematically destroyed. (And Catholic Christian practice flatlines even among European peoples.)
In sum, the Pro-life movement has become a sort of SJW 'muh feelings' easy way out of actually bringing civilization to people.

I'd still care for it out of obligation but I would be so miserable about the whole situation (and feel guilty for being miserable).
I guess the alternative is to have like 5 or 6 kids, so if one of them turns out bad you can send it to a home and focus on the healthy ones but I doubt I will ever be rich enough to support 6 kids.
