Was Voltaire in the same vein as Marxism?

>As a satirical polemicist, he frequently made use of his works to criticize intolerance, religious dogma, and the French institutions of his day.

Not in terms of economics but rather undoing traditional elements of western culture which later proved disastrous.

To be fair, it was mostly intelligent, if petulant, contratianism in a time right after it was acceptable to start questioning the Inqusition and the like and right smack dab in the Enlightenment. It made a little sense there.

There's a difference between enlightenment "All men are created equal" and progressive stack. Similar ideas with little common, nomenclature or substance.

>man criticize shit things in his society
>"he's a degenerate !"

Voltaire was a deist, he believed in God. He had no problem against the power of the King and the church. What he hated was religious intolerance, little barons running the country like they wanted, innocents being wrongfully killed, and giant hypocrisy from many governments. He was a philosopher and a thinker, but he didn't create and ideology, he isn't the head of the Revolution. He's more of a XVIIIth century shitposter.
