Share your views on the Electoral College, and whether or not you think we should have it as our system for elections.
california should be split into thirds

that would only give democrats more votes because none of those states would be contested
>>75210894
No, because each state has representatives dpeending on their size and population of each area. Therefore, it would give the exact same amount of representation

Smaller states have the slightest vote advantage over larger ones.
Lets say we divide CA into 53 different states for shits and giggles, in such a way that each state gets the only one house rep.
Electoral vote amounts are decided by the number of representative in Congress. Each of these new Californian states will get 3 electoral votes, two derived from senators, and a 3rd from their house rep
Now what was California has 159 electoral votes, instead of 55, tripling their vote count.

Explain a little bit more. OP here
>>75213066
I assume he means every congressional district gets to give their electoral vote to the winner of their district, so no more winner-take-all states
>>75212970
would be kind of nice instead of leaving the losing side in the non-swing states fully disenfranchised.
It should all be done by congressional district like Maine and Nebraska.

I think it makes perfect sense. I also think you shouldn't vote if you don't pay taxes.
>>75210628
It should just be based on the popular vote. He who gets the most votes by the people wins
