I lived in Mississippi for a year and a half for a job. First few months was spent in Hattiesburg, actually a pretty nice town. Rest of the time was in Jackson. Never again, worst year of my life. I got giardia from the shitty public water pipes. I don't know how anyone can live there. The locals, 99% black and I'm white, told me that I should leave as soon as I can because I don't want to be trapped there like they had. A Gulf War veteran, also black, told me that Jackson looked worse than some of the war torn areas of Iraq. Had to call 911 once and it rang out, no one picked up. Never go to Jackson, MS.

There are some shitholes in Louisiana, but from what I've seen it looks like a typical countryside for the most part. Stayed there for a couple days only so I didn't get any real experience on what's life there. Negroes are also common sight. That aside, it looks alright, from the impression I got.
