Basically every news organization has noted that there haven't actually been any incidents of a transgender person raping someone in the bathroom of their choosing and even digging through google I can't find any instances. Feel free to cite evidence to the contrary but in practical terms it's a non-issue and as far as I can see it's really not worth fighting about.

The above is best for all involved. It shouldn't need to be regulated by laws. It's worked with almost no drama for the last few decades, it would keep working now if people weren't convinced that their feelings matter more than everyone elses.

Theory is essentially that the more social liberation and freedom there is, the more that is demanded. And that the more rights and etc that are dispensed to a nation, the more likely there is to be a revolution.

Anyways that's fair but it should be noted that A.) Most of these social debates, and LGBT issues in particular, start from the bottom up. Let's not forget that the Clinton's didn't support gay marriage 25 years ago while the movement is half a decade old. And B.) Conservatives are just as fervent about social issues and arguably more fervent about this one. I know you didn't specifically say it was just liberals but this is /pol/ so i'm just covering assumptions.

Politicians as a whole, because of the mess that western democracies have become in some ways, are reactive populists to varying degrees. Clinton is a perfect example of that.
Sure, some genuinely give a shit. But not enough. Having said that, it's not *that* big of a deal that not many genuinely care about smaller issues like these. Their attention should certainly be on more important things. Like making sure their nations don't go bankrupt or get invaded.
As for the increasing rights issue, I think it's a perspective problem. When you're eating dirt and the threat of bandits is real you don't give a fuck where anyone craps. But when you live as comfortably as people do now (looking at you, millennial liberals), in a time where communication (and so much more) is so instant, then you end up with what we have now. A demand for instant reaction and change to perceived inequalities, things which are morally instinctive. And these kind of issues (identity issues for the most part) suddenly overtake the concerns involved with actually MAINTAINING their quality of life.

Some of the hate/dislike comes from a bad place (genuinely hating an 'other' for little or no reason, and often without any thought). Some from a good place (wanting to protect family/selves/communities from perceived risks). Most comes from struggling to understand the issues, and that isn't helped by how people treat them. Actually that just aggravates it.
In fact I would wager that if liberals (broad brush obviously, but there are too many this applies to) weren't bigots themselves and stopped mocking and shaking their fists at such people, then issues such as this could be discussed a lot better. It's not all the little people's fault though. Commercialised media push the most outrageous angles, and politicians are more concerned with choosing a side and appealing to them than they are with having responsible discourse.
