There are several ways to stonewall a judgement.
Gawker can appeal to the the next appellate level, which would be the Florida COurt of Appeals, since this is a state case. If the Appeals court denies Gawker, they could potentially get the Florida Supreme Court to look at the case and possibly reduce the award, order a new trial, or even dismiss the case. Gawker could even try SCOTUS if they are denied in Florida.
Gawker could also ask the judge to set aside the award or issue a judgement notwithstanding the verdict which is essentially saying the jury didn't know what the fuck they were doing and just awarded Hogan money willy-nilly.
Even then, judgment doesn't guarantee you'll get paid, you still need to collect which could involve getting a court order to compel Gawker to pay.

That is correct. They must bond the 140.1 mil in punitive damages which would be 50 million. That's why this loss today was a killer for them. They didn't have any reasonable expectation that they'd get a new trial, but they needed the damages to be lowered. It wasn't and now they're fucked.
There are still ways they can continue tho. It's not out of the realm of possibility for them to get some help behind the scenes, since this could actually be a very important case as it pertains to privacy and the internet in the modern world.
Right now there isn't a clearly defined law since we're kinda still going on New York Times v Sullivan which was almost 60 years ago.
But unless someone takes a big interest in seeing this case be run up the chain to get a landmark ruling, Gawker is fucked. They don't have the assets to pay 1/4 of that bond.

Yes. It could be appealed all of the way to the Supreme Court if they wanted. It'd be unlikely for the Supreme Court to hear it unless there was some funkiness in the circuits, but it is their right to do so.
