What makes you think we need to kill them? A mass-dispersed sterilant administered to the most prolifically breeding and unproductive populations would set the solution in motion. Doesn't even have to work effectively on 100% of the population, just make it really unlikely that a fetus can be carried to term. A 50% reduction in viable offspring can do wonders in long-term resource management. As shitty as I think China is, their one-child policy should be seriously considered as a preliminary solution, maybe tinkered with to a 2 child limit to maintain the gender balance, or a mandatory sterilization the parents and all children after #2 for those that refuse to see the greater good and insist on behaving like rodents.
The alternative is we can go about it the hard way with how nature usually handles these things: A mass die-off from starvation and warring over whatever scarce resources are left. The downside is, with the kind of tech humans can throw at each other, there likely won't be a habitable world left.
