Actually Britain aided the South during the early stages of the war. Union victories + emancipation proclamation made it impossible for Britain to fully intervene because it would look like they were intervening to prop up a slave state.
Numerous countries from around Europe aided the South too. All kinds of loans, economic assistance and so forth. North made sure that they wouldn't be repaid after the war.

Cotton was hugely important to the South and was by far their largest cash crop and export. It was also very important to the textile industry in Britain and was their biggest raw material import with the south supplying about 3/4ths of their supply. Under different conditions the loss of cotton might have brought Britain to the southern side. But there was a ton of excess cotton in 1860 because of a decade long bumper crop. In the meantime Britain was able to find other sources of cotton, and manufacturing was growing and diversifying away from just textiles. Also the British population and the labor movement especially was very opposed to slavery, which meant some of the hardest hit people of the cotton blockade (unemployed mill workers in places like Manchester) were nonetheless strong supporters of the Union.

France couldn't even take on Mexico while the USA was distracted, and the British were stretched way too thin. by the end of the war the Union had the largest army on Earth at the time.

the casualty figures aren't as skewed as Southern revisionists try to make it out to be. all together the Union barely had 10k more in terms of battle KIA, which isn't much considering they were fighting an offensive war in one of the worst time periods for fighting such.

Because the South managed to recruit the best military leaders and fighting men, its moreso a miracle the South cucked themselves so badly by allowing Jackson to get killed and not fortifying and digging in rather than pressing forward

Not quite. There was a surplus of cotton overseas at the time, enough to temporarily withstand a self-inflicted embargo. And by the time cotton was needed again, manufacturing and goods on the Union side were much more important and the Confederacy had effectively failed to make a decisive victory worthy of recognition.
