The elections and referendums we're seeing at this time in history are a tipping point - their outcome will determine the course of global politics and events for the next 20, 30, 50 years.
Far-left politicians have finally discovered their ultimate weapon - manipulating the makeup of populations through migration and gentrification to make regions exponentially more and more left-leaning. Why make a convincing case for your party on the issues when you can just stack the electorate with people who will vote for your party no matter what you do?
Look at the US - you've got Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders talking about granting amnesty and a path to citizenship for 12 million immigrants in the Southwest. Look at Europe - you've got the EU bringing in migrants from Africa and the Middle East by the boatload. Look at many places in the West, where the government are actively exporting liberal whites and minorities from the big cities to rural, more conservative small towns and cities.
There is no "next time". There is no "second chance" for most of these elections and referendums.
Austria is stuck with VbD for the next six years, and he's already vowed to do everything in his power to diversify Austria and undermine the "radical" right wing. I would like to add that the "Let's do it next time!" attitude is lazy. It's easy to push action to a later date, but the window of opportunity is only so large. A demographic shift will make deportation and democratic change impossible (I already consider democratic change to be impossible, but tell a european that and they'll throw a fit).
