Not really, France was unstable. Their population was divided and they had a lot of problems in pretty much every department including generals and army command. After we went into Poland they could have invaded us and wouldn't have met a whole lot of resistance but incompetence and hope that it would not "degenerate" into a greater conflict prevented that.

In WW1 Kaiser Wilhelm had a very complex relationship with Britain/England.
