Because Austria is so hellbent on running against the wall, that unless FPÖ wins everyone thinks "aight everythings fine, business as usual."
Just look back at the Bürgermeisterwahlen. Strache was the 2nd strongest party by far, but still in the end lost to the combined effort of everyone else. Instead of thinking about how to fix everything thats wrong, what SPÖVP thought was "aight we beat Strache, no need to worry we can beat him again."
Then they got blown the fuck out at the first election cycle and Faymann fucked off. But it looks like they'll somehow manage to beat the FPÖ again and what I'm worried about is that once thats done, business will go back to how it was.
SPÖVP will spend all their time arguing, which is even more likely now as Kern is far more left than Faymann was. VdB will let them reign instead oftellingthem to work or call re-elections. Another few years will pass where everything will get worse and when the time comes for the next Nationalratswahlen the question will not be "How do we fix Austria" but "how do we beat the FPÖ again so we can continue doing nothing".
Unfortunately I dont see any way that Austria will start fixing shit, unless the FPÖ wins atleast once.
