No one doubts French and Italian are different languages. However, the concept of an Italian person living in Italy, but speaking Slovenian is completely arbitrary.
You should also know that Arabian varieties are highly divergent based on country. Not unlike North Germanic or Shtokavian languages, they are more of a gradient from the Arabic peninsula to Morocco, and each of them have the additional difference of maintaining different vocabularies via lendings from the original native language.
