That guy who just threatened to assassinate the pope.

He just tied up the Swiss Guard, Italian police agencies and Interpol for hours investigating a fake threat on the pope's life.

He did it knowing that he was only buying himself so much time before the threat would no longer appear credible. He knew that a credible threat made on 4chan would be taken seriously by the authorites, and then he ended it and never posted again.

It was a diversion. The police were looking one way while something else totally unrelated to an attack on the pope went down in Rome.

The stories and information posted here are artistic works of fiction and falsehood.
Only a fool would take anything posted here as fact.

The subversion was to masquerade a silent non-classical invasion of the Holy City, the purpose of which is to induce a response not know to the patient, or the target, to be utilized at a later date. The status is not currently known but what is know is that it happened, and that it will happen. What the OP says is correct, and unprecedented.

>want to commit extremely high-profile crime
>go to 4chan, which produces 2 or 3 credible threats of this nature every year
>pretend you're gonna kill the pope and give just enough "proof" to keep people interested in you
>say it'll happen in however long you need to get done what you have planned
>inevitably someone calls the cops
>Italian police, interpol and Swiss guard waste time and resources preparing for a lone gunman targeting the pope
>while they're focused on the fictional assassin, you commit whatever crime you had planned, safe in the knowledge that all the cops in the city are busy elsewhere
>when you're done, reveal yourself as a troll, the authorities stand down none the wiser

In other words, let's say you wanted to rob a bank. 10 minutes before the robbery takes place, someone in on it empties a shotgun into the air in the parking lot of an elementary school and runs.

While almost every cop in the city is busy dealing with an active shooter situation at an elementary school and their phones are tied up with people calling to report it, you hit the bank.

Are you saying that this was a test of how the Vatican would respond to a lone wolf assassin?

That the post was made to activate security protocols to that those protocols could be observed and then subverted in a later attack?

in theory there could have been some larger plan going on, but I think it much more likely that some italian got bored and decided to string all of /pol/ along for a ride in order to get as many (you)s as possible.

Pope is a cunt

How do you figure?

It's less likely that a very powerful group wants to attack a target in Rome than it is that a bored Italian took us for a ruse cruise? By what metric?

You are familiar with current events in Europe, no?

I think if a major happening was going on, the perpetrators wouldn't involve shitposting on /pol/. Want to get the Vatican on high alert? Contact major news outlets

>>74732829

No real need for that.

4chan has it's reputation, and hence media will respond in time.

Besides that

Potential for dank memes.

If you want to do it without everyone on earth knowing something happened, you don't.

If a random Italian called up CNN and said he was about to shoot the pope, they probably get a dozen calls like that before lunch anyways, it wouldn't materialize into anything.
