We've always relied on the concept of a god, mainly as a coping mechanism. The majority of people can't handle being alone with their thoughts, god forbid embrace them. An all-loving and forgiving god is the thing that we all secretly want.
But we've never seen evidence of it. Everything most theists believe is just an interpretation of various viewpoints or practices.
The end result of civilization, whether we like it or not, is to create our own god. It will happen at some point, and if we survive it is not a problem. But it is going to happen, and god I'm excited for it.
Why sit around embracing a cube when you can bring forth the most powerful being imaginable?
